Pay It Forward – Frontline Workers at White Oak Medical Center

So many men and women have put themselves in harm’s way to work the frontline. They have spent the past year dedicated to helping those who have contracted COVID-19 while trying to remain safe themselves.?

From the Fox 5 team, Erin Como visited the White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, to speak with those saving lives on the frontline.

Tanya, a nurse working the frontlines, says her experience facing patients suffering from the Coronavirus in the emergency department has increased stress. Still, it is rewarding to help decrease the effects and the spread of COVID-19. Anthony Stahl, hospital president, joined in, expressing his gratitude for his staff.?

Respiratory therapists Beverly Desouza shared that it has been overwhelming, but it is gratifying to see patients get better and go home. The support from the entire hospital and staff is what helps them get through these daily battles. She even expressed how this affects her family because of their fear of contracting COVID.

Pay It Forward partners Easterns Automotive Group and Fox 5 DC to support those diong amazing things in our community and Beverly had no clue that she was in for a surprise.?Joel Bassam from Easterns Automotive Group joined virtually to tell Beverly that they will be fixing her car and providing a few gift cards to make life easier for her and her family. Joel didn’t stop there. He surprised the entire hospital with lunch from Caribbean Fire.
